Joseph Shiroko, or Baba Brian as he is known, tells his story as a father of a deaf/blind son. When his son's disabilities were known, Baba Brian wondered what his future would be. After speaking to the head teacher at a deaf/blind school in Kenya, he asks, "What are these children being prepared into?" Baba Brian answered his own question by establishing the Brian Resource Centre in Kenya, a school that prepares deaf and blind adults for self sufficiency. The future is now bright for Brian and others like him.
This story was made in a 5-day workshop in 2009 organised by the African Decade for People with disabilities, in association with the Association for Progressive Communications and Women'sNet. http://www.africandecade.org/
